In today's big Premiere bend over we find our hero John trying to debug a motion stepping on a few shots in a file color corrected in Resolve from a complete show file exported from Premiere. It turns out the Premiere editor had a motion effect on the problem clips. The editor told us she would usually remove the motion effect and send the shot to color and then apply the motion effect on the returned graded clip.
My question is if the motion effect caused a stutter on the file backed out to send to Resolve won't that same motion effect when applied to the color graded clips still end up with the same motion stutter/artifact? If it did it to the ungraded clip why wouldn't it do it to the graded clip. Is there something special in Premiere that would make sense in this situation.
I'm planning to just cut in the raw clip and perhaps not add any motion effect to remove the stutter but I won't know until I get that media tomorrow. Just gotta love working with remote Premiere editors into an Avid workflow. ;-(
