That's a good idea. I'll give that a shot. Of course, you shouldn't NEED to do that, but any port in a storm

Copy an existing Avid MediaFiles folder from another writable drive to the problem drive (it can be just a single imported graphic or audio file.. just needs a valid media database).  


Now avid will see and write to the drive.  This has worked for me in the past.  Have no idea what is the underlying issue.

A long time ago I would have trashed the MC State, do a safe boot and zap the Pram. As you know, this use to fix many minor issues.
