Re: [Avid-L2] Fw: SetAMAQTForcedFrameRate true 29.97 Console Command

If you are using 8.4, you can make frame rate adjustments in Source Settings.  Not sure if this works with XDCAM.

I just tried this console command with a real QT and it does work as advertised.  Set it to 23.976 and ama link and fps column shows 23.98.  Delete the clip and do the false command to deactivate it and voila ama link and it shows 29.97.  Too bad I'm dealing with XDCam media right now.

I had seen this console command on the L2 before but I'd never tried to use it until today.  I had some XDCam media in a .mxf OP-1A according to media info.  It's 29.97 interlace.  So I figured I could use this ama console command to force it to be read as 23.976.  It doesn't seem to work according to the FPS column in the Avid bin after ama linking.  FPS still reads 29.97 after using the this console command replacing 29.97 with 23.976.  Perhaps I need to type 23.98?  Anybody ever use this console command with success.  The fact that my media is already .mxf XDCam from an Edius, according to Media Info, I don't know if that makes it not work with this console command.

As I type this it dawns on me that this if for QT frame rate.  Perhaps because this is native XDCam this command has no effect because it's not really QT.

Subject: SetAMAQTForcedFrameRate true 29.97 Console Command

or IgnoreQTRate, that only works for traditional File->Import, and ONLY for video-only QT sources. As soon as there is audio present in the source QT (even silent audio), the audio sample rate will prevail over this console command.
For AMA sources, you can pull these up or down using SetAMAQTForcedFrameRate true 29.97 -- or whatever frame rate you would like, and SetAMAQTForcedFrameRate false 0 to turn it off again. If the file has audio, this will drift out of sync as it will not be processed.
Alternatively, or actually the only official method: when using AMA, just bring in the files as they are (23.976), splice them into the sequence, open the motion effects editor (for each individual clip) and change the Motion Adapter's speed to 100%. Sound will not be affected, and therefore run out of sync.
