[Avid-L2] Re: OT: 1973 Broadcast Cameras

Mid 70's NBC ran RCA cameras having a lot to do with GE I suppose, I'm sure some of the NBC veterans on list can clarify.  ABC I think had Norelco and then Ikegami cameras and I believe CBS was in the Norelco camp too.  I'm not sure of any of this but this sticks in my mind.  I always felt the NBC shows were warmer looking than CBS and ABC shows.  I figure the various camera choices had something to do with the overall feel of the camera images.  Someone must have spent enough time on the stages to elaborate.

I have to shoot a fake 1973 television panel show. The goal is to use, to the extent that it's even possible, actual broadcast cameras from the period. Is this just a complete pie-in-the-sky ambition, or does anyone have any ideas of whether or not cameras from this era are around anywhere, and functional. Not that I can even imagine what we would record to.

Any thoughts or suggestions would deb appreciated. I would also be curious to know who made the dominant studio broadcast cameras in the 70's.

Thanks,
