I believe Avid was warning that Yosemite had an issue on 8.x with degraded performance with high-resolution footage (ie. greater than HD) on Mac trash cans with 8 cores and up? Don't know if it is fixed in 8.4, but I'm sure the compatibility matrix would tell you.

I have been running 8.3 on Yosemite 10.10.1 since January. Doing long form (up to 2 hour) timelines with no issues.
