[Avid-L2] Jumping Narration clips

Today's mystery -

I've been cutting an hour in 25 fps which will finish in 29.97 fps.

The narration was recorded to picture I believe in Protools at 25 fps. I
received it as AAF clips in a 25 fps sequence, essentially sub-clips of
the entire recording. I cut those into my sequence.

First weird event - When I converted my Avid sequence from 25 fps to
29.97 fps in prepartion for the online I kept getting crashes. I
eventually pinned the cause on the narration audio track (which is a bit
weird from my perspective. Of all things...) If I deleted the track, the
changeover worked fine.

So now I have everything except the narration at 29.97 fps. My solution
was to send an AAF sequence back to the studio where the recording was
done and ask them to change it over to 29.97 fps which they did. They
then sent me a new AAF29.97 fps sequence of consolidated clips which
lined up.

Second Weird Event - For screening purposes I decide to lower the
Narration by 3 db. I applied that to a clip and then tried to apply that
globally to the entire track. When I did that, all the audio clips
shifted toward the head by about 19 sec.

What's up with these narration audio clips?

I am sure I can work around it but it is a bit of a mystery for all of
you who like a good mystery.
