Brilliant.
That's done it - I could see how the system created an OMF folder, then just copy my crap into it, and presto. The issue was the unity thing - I needed a folder that my system 'owned' inside the OMFI MediaFiles folder.
network drive root / OMFI MediaFiles / name of my computer
seems obvious once I see it now. We just never use OMFI anymore, so it wasn't obvious…
