Re: [Avid-L2] Map Menu Command

Another thing to keep in mind (if you are on a mac) starting in mac OS 10.9 they use multiple menu bars, one on each screen... and if you try to export from the timeline using the export menu that is on the other screen... it won't work. You have to choose your menu commands from the proper monitor.

That has caused some confusion here in the past.

I suspect that the problem is that you need to have a bin active for most of these commands to work - thus the keyboard works. With the small command palette, the focus switches to the composer window so you can only export a clip from the source monitor or a sequence in the record monitor. Tested this in 8.3.1 and it does work.

Subject: [Avid-L2] Map Menu Command

Media Composer has a "Map Menu Command to the Tool Palette" function.
Some that I used to use very often are:
- Import
- Export
- Batch Import

But these have stopped working back in MC 5.0 and they still don't work in MC 8.2.3.
I can physically map the menu command to the tool palette, but it does not function.
The system gives the "Ding" error notification.
I have the Tool Palette torn away and placed on the bottom of the Bin monitor.
I can map those menu commands to a key on the keyboard and they work fine.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

George
