Is there an image improvement to a regular monitor fed HDR or does it only happen with HDR monitors? I haven't studied this much so forgive the basic question. Will a computer monitor kick into HDR mode, if possible, when it detects and HDR signal, assuming there is a flag or meta data tag that would be applied to an HDR signal/file.

Actually, you can do 1080 at 12 bit with Dolby HDR. That would fit into existing workflows rather easily.
Or you can do a minimum of 4 times the bandwidth of 1080 to deliver 4K.

Here's the bottom line. I can guarantee you that I could show a 4K and a 1080 HDR monitor side by side and the consumers will pick the HDR monitor every time.
