RE: [Avid-L2] OT: Sony PDW-HD1500 xdcam playback advice

 

I poked around on ours, and looked through the manual, and couldn't find any setting or function that would do this. Since someone's going to be manually hitting play each time, you could put 10 second (or whatever) clips of black between each spot so the operator would have time to hit stop before the next spot.

I don't think this is possible.  That machine treats the discs like a VTR would a tape not like a DVD that has been authored.  I think the chapters or markers that are added to the discs just allow you to jump quickly to them rather than allow them to control playback of the disc.  I could be wrong though...

It's been a while but I think you can create basic play lists using the
clip screens and adding shot / essence marks. There should be a simple
menu item to let the user choose to play one clip at a time or play
sequentially. I don't think such a feature exists. I think there IS a
setting to make multiple buttons act as stop buttons. Maybe Sony likes
the mental image of six people diving at the machine to hit stop at the
end of a clip. --J.B.
