Re: [Avid-L2] OT Capture tapes with discontinuous timecode

Nigel,

You don't mention what format the tapes are.

Options:

- If this is an 'offline' rather than the 'online' you could always
capture wild with BITC.

- If you have access to a time machine something like an IDOL edit
lister would pull off an edl of the tapes from the LTC or VITC. Or if
you change the blanking on the Avid capture and edl from the master
sequence (like what we did with VHS/Umatic offlines)

- As you mentioned digitise the LTC (onto a third track) then I believe
the avid could read audio timecode?

- Could you also capture the tapes with the LTC going into the BOB and
use that as timecode source?

- Capture each the tapes in chunks. Put them on a timeline with all the
relevant clips laid out at the right time code, so the gaps are black
gaps. (I'm assuming it is a concert and someone was pressing
start/stop). Then export this timeline as a file and all the clips will
be at the right timecode in each clip.. Will generate a lot of media if
there are big gaps and it's shot over more than an hour or two

- Failing that get an assistant/work experience spod/or advertise on
facebook for someone to do a long and arduous process of doing this very
manually :-)

More ideas as they come to me and they will, I used to spend far too
long digging clients out of holes like this!

Cheers,

Marcus Dawson
