I think you guys are assuming the OP actually wants to do this. Sounds to me like he may be investigating whether the ProTools editor is responsible for an issue. Maybe.

I believe that it's possible for ProTools to use a MC in some sort of lock chase mode to playback picture from a regular ol' Avid sequence. And that MC is a full functioning editor. So yeah, they could do that.
