You are wrong.  I totally assume that he gave an Avid bin and MXF media to a mixer who loaded it all up in MC that was set up to be used for video playback in chase mode.  And then somehow went and deleted some tracks or something and is trying to say that it was delivered that way.  But hey, I might be wrong and just really biased because of personal experience.  And that is how I learned to deliver a AAF of the audio tracks and do a video mix down of the sequence so that there are events in the timeline when I send it off.

I believe that it's possible for ProTools to use a MC in some sort of lock chase mode to playback picture from a regular ol' Avid sequence. And that MC is a full functioning editor. So yeah, they could do that.
