I'm not a experience user of PP at all, but if "FIN" is appearing in the middle of a file name it may be that a sequence is being named FIN as in FINAL and the renders are from that sequence. You see the same thing in Avid when you render effects in a sequence. The files take on part of the sequence name.

Final Cut Pro render files have that FIN designation, I believe. And yes, they are just QuickTime files.

A friend sent some premiere pro assets - but no project. They're large, and all have the designation FIN in the file. It seems like these are precomps or render files. Anyone know? They don't import into a new project, but if I add .mov to them, they play in QT player just fine.
