In my case, updating from 7.4 to 8.3, the AppManager as per the meager instructions did NOT update the dongle, although it swallowed the Activation Key for Symphony. It simply would not open the updater.avd file. So I simply followed process of yore, opened the “Utilities/DongleManager” folder, ran DongleManager.exe file, which DID open the .avd file, and all was good. This on an unqualified Dell m6500 laptop w/ a 1.87 quad-core i7. Obviously ymmv.
