[Avid-L2] Re: OT: Early 2011 17" MBP vs Mid 2014 15" MBP

Now I get it.  From the picture I thought all the connectors were permanently mounted to the housing and that you either had pigtail cables (not seen in picture) or there were hidden connectors underneath that you'd attach the cables too.  So it's just a piece of plastic that holds your existing cables in the correct spot for them to line up to the side connectors on the MBP.  Very cleaver but I can see how that would be a pain to get just right.  Is it no mus no fus once aligned correctly.  I'd think it would get out of alignment with repeated use but what do I know.  The dog fur alone in my home suit would fill it up so it would look like a chia pet in no time.

It's basically getting all the cables lined up and at the proper "depth" so when you drop the MBP into the dock, everything is seated properly.  Once you get it right, you lock down the cables so it works properly the next time.

It is a cool little device.
