Rewrapping takes the essence - the actual video and audio media - and repackages it in a different type of file structure.
For example DNxHD in MOV or DNxHD in MXF. As I understand quick import simply rewraps the essence from the MOV into native MXF media.
FCP X rewraps pretty much all native media as .MOV without changing the media.
Transcoding or converting mean changing the essence video and audio media to another format. From DNxHD MXF to H.264 mp4 for distribution or review.
