[Avid-L2] Monitor recommendation requested

First of all - system specs:
27" iMac 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 (Late 2013)
2 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB
OS: 10.9.5

I'm sending my Io XT back to AJA for an RMA swap - something is just NOT working. Whether its hardware or software, I haven't been able to resolve the playback issues I'm experiencing.

When the Io XT is on (connected via thunderbolt and enabled via Mercury Transmit), my system is laggy, drops frames, etc. I've reinstalled the drivers several times (different versions of the drivers too) with no luck. Sometimes it works fine, mostly on ProRes QT files, but AVC-Intra can bring the system to a grinding halt.

Without the Io XT handing the video playback, my iMac rocks through all my edit material (h.264, ProRes, Avc-Intra, RED, etc.). Right now I have a 30 inch HP monitor hooked to my system via mini-display and I'm sending my Premiere source to it via Mercury Transmit. Everything is great.

So... at the risk of Bob shaking the dust off the 'ol shotgun...

Does anyone have a "preferred" external monitor that connects to an iMac via thunderbolt/display port? Something 27 inches or greater. Something with very good color reproduction for basic color correction.

Putting on the flame retardant suit now...
