Re: [Avid-L2] Re: where to find Avid FX?

I'm in brain dead mode today so please forgive the basic question.  I know Boris Red will launch stand alone as well as through Avid Effect Mode.  I never tried to run AvidFX standalone, I assume it works just like Boris Red does but I figure I should ask for clarity.

Reading your post it sounds like you launch AvidFX stand alone first then go into Avid  with the Standalone AvidFX running.  Then in Avid launch the interface from the effects window with the stand alone still running.  After that you can quit the stand alone and not get the crash.  I so rarely get AvidFX I'm not versed in the subtleties of the app/plugin.

I have this happen all the time. It will crash unless I first open Avid FX and then from MC go into effect mode, park on the effected clip, and hit Launch Interface. Then I can close it and go back to MC and it works. Unfortunately, most of the time, I'm scrubbing the timeline to see what's up and boom, crash. That's how I know it's an AvidFX.

I'm on 7.0.3 Symphony, Mac OS 10.7.5, Avid FX 6.4

Good to know.  Do you know which Avid version the offline was done on?  I wonder if the bug is specific to a particular version of AvidFX.

We ran into a bug with Avid FX where the client's sequence with an Avid FX transition would cause a crash when you moved around in the timeline on Macs (not Windows for some reason). The most recent version (posted days ago) of Red for Avid resolved this.
