Thank you all for the replies. I now have a much clearer understanding of how to proceed. I knew that keeping the original frame rates (48 fps) was what I needed to do. I was hoping there was a way of transcoding that would allow me to keep the 48 fps and/or use the motion effects editor to use them.
Since there are a lot of over-cranked footage, I will create a new project at 48 and open the bins in the main project.
Since the super slo-mo is now a "current" look, I'm really looking forward to Avid supporting more frame rates.
As an aside, I sincerely hope the "sped-up" look has run it's course. It has reached the cliche point.
