I heard that back in the day CBS News banned the use of Reporter cutaways so they came up with the "CBS News Dissolve" that I believe was a 5 frame dissolve specifically designed to show that they were in fact editing the sound bites. I don't know but I doubt that edict is still in place, perhaps one of our CBS brethren came shed some light on the CBS news dissolve legacy.
