You are NOT STUPID and IGNORANT!!!
I've been almost non-stop been on the 'effin Avid since 1992 and this is an off the wall workflow. A totally UN-intuative workflow. Google this issue ten ways to Sunday to get a tutorial or a workflow and you get no real solution. I found it by trial and error using the AMA clip instead of the transcoded clip (which is usually the standard operating procedure).
The only real help I got was here. The only plain language, non-nerd explanations.
The Avid forum had ONE semi-helpful solution but it didn't plainly say "USE THE AMA CLIP".

Where is Bob Zelin and his shotgun?
PS: I tried to RTFM but it gives me a headache.
