[Avid-L2] Re: Backward compatability

I'm confused about the difference between a software license and a dongle based system.  So the latest 6.5.x is compatible to 8.1 bins backward compatibility with a software license but if I have a dongle I can have backwards bin compatibility to the latest 6.0.x.  I assume that means that with that dongle I'm good with 6.0.5.1 and the latest 6.5.x and 7.0.x.  In a nutshell the dongle gives me one extra version of backwards compatibility.  Do I have this right?

You need to make sure you have Media Composer 6.5.4.2 for a SW license based system or Media Composer 6.0.5.1 for a dongle based system  in order to use that version with 8.x media, projects and bins.

Ping me direct if you need specifics.... make sure you deactivate before forging ahead with an upgrade
