Having read the thread from start to finish, the jury seems to be out. The post you linked to was a problem which was fixed with a firmware update, the main gripes against the dreamcolor seem to be poor colour uniformity, backlight leakage and bad off axis viewing. However towards the end of the thread there are mentions that more recently manufactured units (June this year) are much improved. It's never going to be a Dolby but if the OP was after something in the sub 2K region then it surely is worth a trial? Especially over the LMD which looks shocking.
