That's a great approach. Way back in the early days of offline online ABC had a camera shooting 4 camera monitors and a time code generator in the middle and shot that to tape. I remember when I believe it was Panasonic came out with a box that would create a quad split around 1987 that we fed pgm and 3 isos and added a time code burn in to feed to a 3/4 deck and for the producers feeds.
I can see this working great in a truck environment but not so effective in the reality run and gun setups many of my shows have. I'll have to check with the production folks to see if all the field cameras running around have RF video feeds to the producers. If they do that then this would be great except they can't seem to get the time code to match precisely, they should match but after over 100 seasons on these shows I've yet to see them get it right in the field.
