[Avid-L2] Cinedeck recorders - any experiences? Also offline/online workflow questions.

L2'ers:

I have an upcoming job where I have to record a live event.  The truck we've booked has Cinedeck recorders, which I've never used, but which appear to be quite capable:

I'm thinking of the following workflow:

* Record multiple hi-res video streams of 1080 59.94i as DNxHD 145 with OP-Atom MXF wrappers.

* Simultaneously record multiple lo-res proxy video streams as h.264 2000 mbp/s MXF.

* For offline, drag-&-drop the DNxHD into my Avids (MC v7.x) for immediate editing (don't want to have to consolidate.)

* I don't mind if I have to consolidate the h.264 proxies as these files are tiny.  (I need these for multicam.)

* Offline with both DNxHD & h.264 mixed in the timeline.

* Relink from h.264 to DNxHD 145 for client approval cuts, and for online.

So has anybody used Cinedecks?  None of my colleagues have, and nobody in my market uses them, so any comments are welcome.

Also, any comments about my workflow are most welcome.  In particular I've never used Avid's new h.264 proxy resolutions - my tests are all encouraging, but that's not the same as real-world experiences, so I'd appreciate hearing from L2'ers.

     Thanks!
