Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Dongles updates deadline?

This scare tactic seems a bit unfair, especially when a significant part of dongle owners:
-are long time, loyal Avid customers
-paid premium prices for their products back in the day
-upgraded on a regular basis, but only as they saw fit

If Avid counts on everybody jumping on this type of assurance, they're up for a big surprise.
And by the way, there used to be great, knowledgeable guys in support. Not so much these days - I can almost see their blank stare when I ask some basic questions, followed by a side step of asking around for answers and potentially getting back to you in a couple of days.

As a matter of fact, I have a case opened back in March about the dreaded black frame when outputting to tape with Blackmagic cards and only some lame workaround attempts every few weeks. Interestingly enough, my repeated requests to escalate the case are systematically ignored.

cheers,
BG

Yup pretty straight forward. You need to put each system/dongle onto to annual support before the end of december 2014.
If you don't they will have no upgrade path past that.
The annual support is $299 per year.
Hard to imagine anyone doesn't think an upgrade path isn't worth that.  And unlike subscription at least those dongles will continie to run at whatever version they are on if you stop support in the future.
