At the same time: The less we complain about this, the easier it becomes for Avid to just silently drop these features forever, because no one seems to care.

They made an awfully big mistake here. The agreement with Nexidia ended around NAB or so. It's not like that was the first moment they needed to start thinking about this. I'm pretty upset with both Avid and Nexidia for messing with features that are essential to some of their most loyal customers.
