Is all the audio 48k?

In my online I'm always dropping the audio tracks so I avoid the issue most of the time. I always commit multicam in online. Today in my trouble shooting I was surprised that the item count only went from 32700 ish to 30000 after commiting multicam. The offline editor also tried commiting multicam but still ended up having to break the sequence in two parts. There is an elaborate open sequence but that was not part of the cuts I was dealing with. I guess I'll just blame it on the low frequency video, a.k.a. audio. ;-) I would like to find out if there is a hard limit to item and link count or is it something that's not an exact number depending on other factors to the project/sequence.
