I don't know what you mean by update all in one hit? I get that the source path should show a path that includes a folder with the tapeless clips in it and that folder should represent basically a name that would be similar to traditional "Tape" name. When you write, "Then color or add a custom column and update", do you mean add a clip color or color correct? I like the idea of the source path. I would duplicate the source path data into the clip name column and then sort by clip name and start time code. Then it would be very similar to a traditional tape based work flow I use. I could then add suffixes to the source path to break up different color setups from the same source file path. As I type this I think that each source path will be unique ending in the name of the actual file/clip so that wouldn't mimic the typical tape behavior of the tape name followed by .new 01 etc.... So that wouldn't necessarily work the way I want it to but it would put the clips in a logical order in a bin so I could just copy and paste a common clip name to similar clips. Unfortunately that would make for a confusing path to finding original clips if that was required. I think the "Disk Label" metadata could be a more suitable substitute for the traditional tape name but I don't think Disk Labels are automatically added in a logical way. At least I know XDCam disks require using the sony utility to add a more descriptive disk label to XDCam optical disks from the field. I suppose this could be added in the field but I haven't seen that as standard practice. I haven't had to work on all tapeless shows very much as tape still suits the needs of my main clients.
Then color or add a custom column and update all in one hit.
