My symphony/resolve machine has recently stopped running Media composer - it crashes on startup, usually during AVX2
I tried a bunch of stuff to get it working: including reinstalling MC, updating from 10.8.5 to 10.9.4, updating the Nvidia driver.
The last was a disaster and I spent a couple hours back-reving the driver to the one provided by Mac. All that didn't solve the problem, and mucked up the rest of things...
So, I'm currently completely rebuilding the system drive. It was pretty bloated - so I'm not too upset, but the process is a serious time-suck since I also have to add Adobe and FCP7! and I'm sure I'll run into some licensing issues... (Hello, Marianna?)
Anyway, I see some folks in various forums have run into similar trouble - and it's largely been blamed on the Nvidia driver. What is the CORRECT nVidia driver for Media Composer 7.04 on OSx 10.8.5? I can't find this info anywhere - plenty of info about PC drivers, but unclear on Mac. I'm currently using the default driver, but loaded the Cuda recommended by nVidia's website...
Coincidentally firefox stopped working reliably about the same time - coincidence?
[ With only Media Composer loaded, it launches as expected - updating the Nitris - (and less phrasefind, but that's tomorrow's problem) so adding other apps one-by-one. ]
Anyone who can shed expertise on this sudden pita much appreciated.
