Earlier this week,  the 6.5.4.4/10.5.4.4 updates were removed from the Download Center. These builds will now be reposted at 4 PM EDT today, August 4.

Issue: They were removed due to reports that the patches could introduce "Application Binary is Corrupt" errors. These errors could occur intermittently during editing and force the user to quit the application.

Fix:  We have a fix for 6.5.4.4 / 10.5.4.4 and it turns out it was the Windows installer was not working properly.   The 6.5.4.4 Mac Installer was fine.   We were able to repackage the build in a fixed installer.  This way the MC code and version number stay the same, and only the .msp installer has changed. This new installer package will be re-posted to the Download Center.

Already installed 6.5.4.4/10.5.4.4: Customers who installed 6.5.4.4/10.5.4.4 prior and run into "Application Binary is Corrupt" on Windows should simply uninstall the .4 patch and re-install using the updated installer from the Download Center.

What to do:  If any customers report "Application Binary is Corrupt" errors on Windows with v6.5.4.4 or 10.5.4.4 have them uninstall the patch and re-install it using the updated installer from the Download Center. If customers report this on Mac or with other versions, it is not related to this issue. In other cases, this is a valid error message that can occur when proper installation procedures are not followed or if the software has been tampered with in some manner. If a clean re-installation does not resolve this have them contact Avid CS.

This has been documented on the Knowledge Base for future reference: Application Binary is Corrupt with Media Composer 6.5.4.4, Symphony 6.5.4.4 or NewsCutter 10.5.4.4
