I chime in:
Large facilities such as NBC don't keep up with the latest version of editing software because there's much more at stake. The editing software is only a part of this. Edit rooms are connected to ISIS servers using InterPlay software for media access. We can't simply upgrade to a newer edit version without making sure that the ISIS system and InterPlay software are upgraded as well (or at least tested for compatibility). Changes made to one part may affect stable operation of other parts. So currently, we are on a 6.x version.
