And back to blanking. With digital systems its really active picture or outside active picture. But for want of a better term excessive blanking describes black in the active picture area.
That could be a hood or a picture shift or a bad resize. Often unclear to the QC operarive so better to just call it blanking error.
We should all know what that means and looks like.
And as I said before scopes have the advantage of showing more than just active picture and some broadcasters require the non active picture to be blank. So just using a monitor or QT7 is part of the solution.
