Re: [Avid-L2] True peak audio limiter

 

All these specs for that low frequency video part of the signal, a.k.a. audio.  I use to mix with VU meters and it all went through the broadcast food chain just fine.  Then Peak meters and that was fine.  Now all these new measurement methods offer great accuracy etc...  My understanding with all the Calm etc... specs is to get the dialogue to be at the same level across all the channels and to make commercials not scream out.  Basically so there is some uniformity of the perceived loudness when changing channels.

This has been going on for quite a while and yet on my direct TV I still hear some pretty extreme differences between the channels and when I view OTA signals they differ even more than the direct TV.  Anybody know when theory will match actual experience?
