Re: [Avid-L2] Sony F5 4K footage ama'd into Avid has a Data tracj?

Sure, that's a possibility.  One of the main uses of the external recorder is to enable RAW recording.  The internal cards aren't fast enough to support that.  Sony has AMA plugins for both RAW and XAVC.  The RAW would be a ton more data, of course.  I imagine if the edit system didn't have a good amount of RAM it could run into problems with that.

Now you have me wondering if the external recorder was recording 4K Raw.  Does that make any sense?  Does Avid support an ama link to Sony 4K Raw?  They were able to ama link to the clips so whatever it is Avid understands it.  I've never worked with this material before and I'm waiting for the AEs to send me a screen grab of the error they are getting.  I guess it's been too long since my last codec frustration.  When I got sober they taught me how to live one day at a time but these days I have to work one codec at a time, and on a bad day it's one clip at a time.  ;-)

Nope -- all recorded to internal cards as XAVC 4K, rather than RAW.  No need for the external recorder for that.

Was it recorded on an external recorder?  We are speculating there may be something about the external recorder that might be causing the issue.
