DownThemAll doesn't parse through caches or flash tunnels, so it would never find a YouTube video. DownThemAll simply aggregates every clickable link on a page and allows you easy downloading of anything that could be clicked. So pages where you log in and there are 30 things you want to download and not want to sit there and right-click/Save As every single one, DownThemAll comes in handy.
DownloadHelper will tunnel through and retrieve video sources not explicit in the page or page code. This one works for YouTube (most of the time, giving you every resolution available), and a few other sites. On Thu, Jun 12, 2014 at 9:19 PM, John Moore bigfish@pacbell.net [Avid-L2] <Avid-L2@yahoogroups.com> wrote:
Others on the L2 have been happy with Download Them All the extension for Firefox to download videos off web sites. I have always had better success with Download Helper for Firefox. Today I needed to download a friends demo reel from YouTube. I downloaded both Download Them All (DTA) and Download Helper (DH). When I go to the you tube page and open DTA I get a list of elements from the page but nothing is obvious as to the demo video. When I click the DH pulldown menu I see a list of the demo reel title in .mp4, .flv, and .3gp. Clicking on the .mp4 downloaded a QT compatible file that worked just fine. What am I missing in DTA as I see no files or descriptions that list the name of the demo reel that DH shows in the pull down menu? I even tried to filter using .mp4 in DTA but nothing ended up selected. I'm really beginning to think all the internet hype is grossly overrated.
