Just discovered that the aforesaid drives NEEDS to be renamed. So now I'm having to relink everything and it is a bitch. Like I said, it is working better than previous versions, but still frustratingly stupid.
One improvement in 7.0.4 is making my very happy. If you relink on file in a bin, relink now automatically links to other matches in that folder.
BUT here are two VERY easy improvements for Avid:
1) In the AMA relink dialog, show the source file name! You show the avid clip name. Great, but I need the source file name to find it.
2) Load this into the search box which both operating systems provide. Why are you making me type this in for Pete's sake?
Both these are in the "duh!" category for me.

If you are listening Avid, not everyone feels this way. Solid linking is critical for my workflows. Importing will not cut it. I've been linking for the last five years in FCP. Importing everything would be a wildly impractical backward step.And I remain optimistic, though progress is much slower than I had hoped. Linking has improved even from 7.0.2 to 7.0.4.
