They *are* an "ALP" (Avid Learning Partner), so that's a good thing.
That means certified instructors and certified books.
They offer the 3-day MC101 class (Intro to Editing) for $700,
and the 2-day MC110 class (Intro to Effects) for $500:
Very often these two classes are taught back-to-back in one week (likely why you're seeing costs at other places in the $1100 to $1200 range). Here they are splitting them up for greater flexibility, I'd guess.
The MC101 duration of 3 days (8 hours instruction per day, plus an hour for lunch) and the MC110 of 2 days is how Avid has formally structured the classes. It keeps the time commitment and cost down for the students. Some ALPs teach the 101 in 4 days, and the 110 in 3 days for around the same cost (at least in the Los Angeles market, anyway).
If you're a brand new user, I suggest some study on your own before taking the class. The preparation will help you to get more out of the class, I think. Even looking over the free, short tutorials at http://apps.avid.com/Get-trained-mc6/new-to-mc.html will be helpful. And you can download a 30-day free trial of MC too: http://apps.avid.com/media-composer-trial/
Happy Avid-ing!

Hi thanks for accepting me into the group! Question, has anyone taken the MC 101/110 course fe
The digital film academy in NY?
There class for 101 is only 2 days and 500.00. All other classes for MC 101 I've seen are 3 days and usually cost 1100.00
Any insight if anyone has attended their course would be great.
Best regards,
