If / when, you need to do troubleshooting and hold down the 'option' button to choose a different disk to start up from, not having this start up screen becomes a bit of an issue.
Not as convenient, but when you consider how much cash you saved, it's not a big deal. If you are always changing startup disks, this probably isn't for you, but if it's something you do every now and then, it's really not bad.
