Hi All,
Got a bit of an problem with regard to surround monitoring..... (the
other monitoring surround thread was good but didn't address this point
so I'm 'rebooting' it)
I have a Dell M6600 Workstation with HDMI output and MC7. I can set up
the audio output for 5.1, get noise out of all the speakers and play
back movies in 5.1.
My stumbling block seems to be the 'monitor mix format' setting. The 5.1
(and 7.1) options are 'greyed out' and I can *only* have this set to
mono or stereo.
* Audio in windows control panel/sound is set to 5.1
* Each speaker is discrete
* Avid will display the 'pan' 5.1 audio boxes if I make the sequence 5.1
Here is where I *suspect* my problem will be:
In the audio project settings under hardware my card is 'DirectSound
Audio & 1394 Audio/only translate audio'
Peripheral: Avid OHCI
On the assumption that this is the problem what would I need to change
to get Avid to play out/change the monitor mix format so that I can mix
in 5.1. Otherwise anyone got any suggestions.
Many thanks,
Marcus
