Re: [Avid-L2] Unity Media Net all one allocation group or multiple allocation groups for offline 10:1 media?

So to be clear the way our unity media net is configured now is one allocation group accross 4 chassis.  If one drive goes out and only the project workspaces are mirrored then they will lose media on one or more media workspaces depending on where the media is spread accross.  If all the spindles are in play won't every piece of media end up spread accross all the drives/spindles and thus be effected by any drive loss?

I know the unity management software flags drives that are going south.  I assume that is when you activate one of the spares in the chassis and have the failing drive's data transferred to the spare.  Can you then hot swap out the failing drive and have it rebuild from the spare drive or does this require shutting down the entire Unity?  I'm surprised we haven't been bitten harder with having one allocation group.  Seems like we are asking for trouble.
