Re: [Avid-L2] Unity 5 to Terrablock upgrade

Well, as the ISIS Product Manager I should really step in here…You should take a look at ISIS, there are some easy ways to move from Fibre channel to Ethernet.  If you want I can have somebody contact you.  Also, late last year we repriced ISIS and added higher capacity drives.  At NAB we announced support for 4K.  OK, sorry for the sales pitch but contact me if you need more information.

Take care,
Dave

Subject: [Avid-L2] Unity 5 to Terrablock upgrade

HI there

We have a Unity 5 and are thinking of upgrading to a terrablock really because we can keep our fibre infrastructure and because it has much better bandwidth than ISIS, and we don't particularly need the interplay type extra's. The terrablock is cheaper for more bandwidth and more clients.

So I just wanted to get a view on practically how this would be and whether there are any significant gotcha's. We have mostly PC's on fibre with a token MAC and a couple of DS's

Is day to day use similar for clients ?

Is it  just as easy to resize workspaces up and down?

Is it just as easy to mount and unmounts workspaces?

Many thanks

NIge
