I wish they'd freshen up the toolset too, but I think they're content to let others design plug ins that will improve their product. They built a solid editor, then made it modular for accessories. We've all been offering feature requests that seem to have fallen on deaf ears. Now I think we know why...
Avid's current business objective seems to be distribution/cloud services. And not much else. C'est la vie.
