it depends on the codec for the quicktime movie being made is what I have seen.
from what I recall:
CODE
DV.DVCPRO - NTSC - COLOR LEVELS 601/70 EXPORT
MPEG-4 - COLOR LEVELS 601/709 EXPORT
NONE - COLOR LEVELS 601/709 EXPORT 8bit
ANIMATION - COLOR LEVELS 601/709 EXPORT 8bit
PRORES - COLOR LEVELS RGB EXPORT
BLACKMAGIC RGB - COLOR LEVELS 601/709 EXPORT 10bit
DNxHD - COLOR LEVELS 601/79 EXPORT
For me if I am ever using an non-Avid codec and the codec is not "animation" or "none" I AMA direct link to check the file. I find that AMA keeps the color intact to the best it can and file>import can shift the gamma to the darker side 1.2 percent.
AMA direct link does not work if the codec is an Avid Codec uncompressed with video only. It plays back scrolled.
NTSC - DVD is even field dominace 720x480 non-square pixels.
Both HD and SD is 72 dots per inch unless we are talking about sequential files which in theory are resolution independent. SD is non-square pixels and HD is square pixels
