My interplay knowledge is pretty limited but don't you have to "check in" all assets to Interplay?  I know you can set where a user is able to check those assets in so for example editor1 is only able to check in assets to the "editor1"  folder.  This way you can stop them from just dumping crap all over the nicely organised project structure.  This would hopefully help with small imports, music tracks, tiffs, gfx etc and hopefully the job of ingesting rushes and organising the project structure will still be up to the tech ops (or i'm screwed!) .  I agree though, there's much room for shoddy wrangling.   You'd need a pretty fast connection to send the full res media back anyway so at this point it probably still makes sense to ferry the rushes back to base and ingest to the ISIS at the post house.  If you have a really fast upload connection then better to send the unwrangled rushes back to the facility over signiant or something rather than attempt to do it through Avid?

There in lies the rub.  Even with no cloud involvement every online has glitches.  I can't imagine adding the cloud will lessen this reality, in fact I'd be surprised if it doesn't make things worse.  It's hard enough to get my local in house AEs to capture ad ingest files correctly.  Moving them out of house will probably make that even more problematic.
