Re: [Avid-L2] Fraps: Best MC Mac Workflow?

I've dealt with these. Client converted them to AVIs which I could cope with (converted AVIs to ProRes with MPEG Streamclip on Mac).

I'm doing a sizzle reel for a video game maker. They are creating Fraps files which will need to be converted to something I can bring into Media Composer. Fraps is a PC-only file format (though they can be played on a Mac in NicePlayer with Perian installed) and the only conversion apps I have found have limited flexibility regarding codex. However, the game maker is willing to convert the files. So, my questions are:

  1. Is there a Mac-based compressor that could convert the Fraps files to DNxHD files and, if not,
  2. …is there a PC-based compressor that could do this and, if not,
  3. …what would be the best file format for the game maker to convert to for me to subsequently AMA and transcode?
Thanks,
Martin
