I've dealt with these. Client converted them to AVIs which I could cope with (converted AVIs to ProRes with MPEG Streamclip on Mac).

I'm doing a sizzle reel for a video game maker. They are creating Fraps files which will need to be converted to something I can bring into Media Composer. Fraps is a PC-only file format (though they can be played on a Mac in NicePlayer with Perian installed) and the only conversion apps I have found have limited flexibility regarding codex. However, the game maker is willing to convert the files. So, my questions are:
- Is there a Mac-based compressor that could convert the Fraps files to DNxHD files and, if not,
- …is there a PC-based compressor that could do this and, if not,
- …what would be the best file format for the game maker to convert to for me to subsequently AMA and transcode?
