[Avid-L2] User Bits and Disk Label

So I haven't had much luck in trying to get MC 6.5.3 to display User Bits that isn't timecode. I think it must not be possible.

The Sony FS700 camera does not allow for clip naming and resets clip numbers on each new card, which means that camera a's first shot on monday at 10 AM is called 00001.mts and camera a's first shot on Tuesday at 10 AM is also called 00001.mts, both with 10:00:00;00 timecode. I was hoping that by adding something like 0A042314 (Camera A 04/23/14) into the User Bits I could help MC distinguish between cameras and between shots at the same time on different days.

Is assigning a Disk Label once the footage is AMA'd a reliable way to do this instead?

Thanks in advance for any help.
