[Avid-L2] Sony F-500 "DT Unlock Error - 45"

So I'm on my 3rd rental deck today.  They swapped out an SRW-5500 for an F-500 to save money.  The first F-500 was sending some sort of audio on channel 3 down the HDSDI embedded audio so my Panny monitor level was showing a low signal with no input or output and even with the deck set to silence internal generator.  They swapped that deck out for another F-500 that works but then 3 times in an hour long output the video back from the record machine goes black for 5 seconds then comes back.  Stopping I see there is video on tape during the whole black section and the error log displays "DT unlock - 45" and 4 frames later a "Lost Lock - 2" error.  Playing back the section there is a digital hit right around those points.  Re inserting over the section and everything is okay on playback.  Now they are going to bring back the 5500 deck to get me through the night.  I also tried a second tape.  I'm doing insert edits on a preblacked tape.  Perhaps some interchange issue?

I'm running my Avid SNDX on internal sync, I know not my favorite but given my house sync issues I've posted about recently it's my only option for now, and the deck is set to ref video input, I know not ideal but see previous comment.  This has been working fine until the 2 F-500s today.  I even had another F-500 before that was fine in this configuration.  I restore factory default to each deck before setting a few things the way I like it to be.  Am I missing anything to trouble shoot this futher?  When these black moments occur Avid is unaware so the deck isn't signaling any trouble back to Avid but it is logging the aforementioned error logs.  Any suggestions welcome.
