Doing a little more research in this lovely tapeless world. Anybody got some practical advice and experience in how to best offload a Sony EX camera in the field when shooting 24/7. I'm figuring the 64 gig cards that record 200 minutes a pop. To record continuous for 14 to 21 days I figure that would need at least a days worth of SxS cards per camera. How much time does it take to properly offload a 64 gig SxS card in the field. I would think it advisable to offload to two drives preferably at the same time. If you had 9 cameras going does it require 9 stations or can a station handle multiple offloads. As I type this that would require multiple SxS readers per station which I assume is doable. I can see comparing tape to drives there is a media savings but that doesn't include the equipment and man power to be handling all the offloading and protection copies etc.... Of course down the line for archive and network delivery of source material tape has an advantage over the need to LTO all the files.
I recall that with an adapter there was a way to use cheaper cards than the SxS cards in the EX camera that would handle everything but overcranked footage. Is that approach viable in a run and gun setting?
